GREENWASHED | Environmental Documentary

Featuring BBC-presenter and fearless activist, Chris Packham, and created by Mexican physician and environmentalist Sofia Pineda Ochoa, this film confronts existential ecological crises threatening our planet through the lens of a major yet uncomfortable truth-one that most environmental organizations refuse to acknowledge or, worse, actively deny. The film exposes the threat this silence poses for both humans and animals worldwide.

ABOUT THE FILM

We've built an environmental culture where institutions prioritize influence over truth, where image outranks outcomes, and where performance often replaces integrity.

Tushar Mehta, Physician and Environmentalist

The film delivers a visually striking and unflinchingly honest look at the state of our planet. Blending rigorous research, expert interviews, and a deeply personal human story, GREENWASHED explores the complex realities of our environmental crisis and the immense scale of transformation required to address it.

ABOUT THE FILMMAKER

Sofia Pineda Ochoa

Sofia Pineda Ochoa is a Mexican film producer, physician and psychiatrist, born and raised in Guadalajara. She completed her medical training at the University of Guadalajara, where she also taught biochemistry, and later worked in the Emergency Department at Hospital Civil de Guadalajara.

In 2009, she moved to the United States for postgraduate medical training, working with institutions including the University of Tennessee, Le Bonheur Children’s Medical Center, and the University of Texas Medical Branch.

Over time, Sofia became increasingly concerned with the intersection of human health and environmental sustainability.

She grew troubled by the accelerating harm humans are inflicting on the natural world—and on the countless species with whom we share it—as well as by the psychological and cultural forces that make such harm easy to rationalize.

Her new film examines how denial, convenience, and moral complacency shape environmental discourse, often replacing truth with comfort.

Following her first documentary, Endgame 2050 (released in 2020), which featured the musician Moby, Pineda Ochoa returns with a more direct and uncompromising tone in GREENWASHED, urging viewers to confront the environmental crisis with clarity and honesty.

Statement from Sofia Pineda Ochoa, MD:

Sofia Pineda Ochoa

When someone struggles with a destructive addiction—whether to alcohol or cocaine—there is no recovery without first recognizing and accepting the problem. Likewise, as a society, we must clearly acknowledge that we are destroying, polluting, and depleting the ecosystems that sustain us. No meaningful change can happen until we truly understand and accept the magnitude of the damage we’re causing. I hope this film contributes, even modestly, to building that awareness.
